1 – Pre-heat the oven to 400f
The oven will take a little while to heat up so this should always be your first step when making this holy moly chicken recipe.
While the oven is heating you can move onto steps 2 and 3.
2 – Finely chop the onions and chicken breast
Whether you have chosen to use white or red onion you will want to do the prep now and chop them into fine cut diced portions. Leave the onions to the side to be put into the pan alongside the chicken at a later point.
The chicken breast should be cut into cubes and also put beside the onions ready to be fried in a later step.
3 – Grate the cheddar cheese
Take your block of cheddar cheese and cut off around 2/5 of a cup or 3.5oz and grate this into shavings, collect the grated cheese in a bowl and place in the fridge for later.
4 – Part Boil the Pasta
Put the pasta on to boil on the stove, while the water starts bubbling away you can start on step 5.
5 – Shallow Fry the Chicken breast
Toss the chicken and onion frequently on a medium heat for 5-7 minutes, sprinkle on the dried garlic and mixed spice at this stage too. Continue cooking until the outside edges of all chicken pieces are white or slightly browned so there is no pink meat visible.
Then turn off the pan and place it to the side temporarily. At this point you should also take the pasta off the stove and stop boiling it.
6 – Mix the ingredients ready to oven cook
At this point in the recipe you should have partially cooked and coated chicken and onion and partially cooked (softened) pasta.

7 – Place the oven dish in to bake
Place the oven dish with your mixture in the center of your pre-heated oven. Make sure there is plenty of space for the air to circulate around your dish.
Leave the mixture to cook for 35 minutes, after 35 minutes open up the oven and sprinkle the grated cheese on top and leave for another 5-10 minutes until the whole mixture is melted and golden.
8 – Serve and Enjoy!
Once the dish is cooked leave it out to settle for 5 minutes, this will allow the flavors to mix and a nice coating to form on the sauce.
